Working alongside the company secretariat, corporate affairs, financial reporting and investor relations teams, we created the Annual Report, Sustainability Report, Corporate Governance Statement and Notice of Meeting, which is distributed to hundreds of thousands of Australian shareholders.
We love the reporting suite and 2020 saw us build capacity, design and content, including the introduction of two new documents, the Tax Contribution Report and Modern Slavery Statement.
Working out of the Melbourne headquarters of this global resources company to set the framework for sustainability reporting was a complex and fascinating role.

As one of the world’s largest gold mining companies Newcrest Mining has a strong rhythm with sustainability reporting and it was a delight to work with fellow industry experts on their Sustainability Report. We introduced new and innovative approaches and the Report is comprehensive and representative of a strong sense of collegiality in the organisation.
Mergers and acquisitions require extensive stakeholder management and integration of the Red Chris mine in Canada into the Newcrest family involved a sound engagement strategy, depth interviews and detailed analysis from our team. The complexities and insights provided from our change management team assisted with a smooth transition.
Working with a company that has the community at its heart is such a privilege. With the economic impacts of Covid19 so prevalent, we were engaged to establish a working group of high profile representatives to identify opportunities to involve those most impacted by Covid19 in a major project.
Combining the passion and creativity of the working group with our expertise in strategic partnerships, stakeholder engagement and facilitation, we crafted a plan of key initiatives, with creative funding, for the greatest reach and impact.
A project-wide stakeholder engagement strategy was also developed, setting a framework for collaborative relationships, client satisfaction and social procurement, further maximising client and social benefits.
To propose, develop and complete Deakin University’s sustainability strategy and first-time sustainability report was an exciting project.
Capturing the relevant social, economic and financial sustainability activities at the University, using the world’s best practice framework (GRI) and producing a 36-page report, eight-page summary document, 15 case studies and nine video snapshots was a six-month project involving amazing people from every part of Deakin’s four Victorian campuses.
The work put Deakin in a global leadership position as the first university in the world to produce a GRI G4 guidelines report with a ‘materiality matters check’. Worldly indeed. Added to which it was the only university in Australia to produce a GRI G4 sustainability report.
And we did it all again in the following year, producing report two.
Working with leading mental health and wellness service provider, Pathways Ltd, was an enlightening experience.
Developing a marketing strategy and implementation plan, as well as a three year strategic plan, involved more than 30 interviews with stakeholders. We conducted workshops with staff, the board of directors, team supervisors and people who use Pathways services.
Coinciding with a major rebrand, we worked with this amazing team to show their colours at a spectacular launch.
Working closely with the team at Australia Post, our aim was to deliver an annual report that took integrated reporting to a new level. We developed a strategic report that included all the transformative work taking place at this nation postal service.
KPMG noted it as a benchmark report.

Taking the Information Security message to all staff in Australia and New Zealand was serious fun.
It all started in the deep end of IT – managing the communication for the AFIG integration program while simultaneously writing and developing the Information Security Handbook and mandatory online training modules.
That led to mapping risk control baselines for the IS team, then setting the three-year education and awareness program.
That’s where superheroes and hobby horses came into play. Super people.
Joining the team when corporatisation of Victorian utilities was at its peak and the 10-year drought was in its early years meant interesting times ahead. Managing corporate affairs and all external communications included enterprise-wide copywriting and developing all marketing collateral.
It also involved writing and managing three regulatory reports – annual report, environmental performance report and water quality report. Over the period of eight years this morphed into a leading edge sustainability report under the guidance of a great MD with a social and environmental responsibility agenda. We love working with engineers!
One of a number of consultancy tasks, reorganising the “Community Health and Wellbeing Profile 2009” document to make it reader-friendly and more usable was an enlightening experience.
It has stood the test of time and is still used as a key reference.
